place where the time stays still
You might think I'm crazy for writing this about a village that you've never even heard about, but honestly, before booking a hotel and coming there, I've never imagined that I would feel completely at home and at peace there. I was really mesmerized with life there and wish I can go back even just for a minute.
Some men weren't fond of me taking pictures, but some were.
Waiting for the catch of the day.
I woke up most of the mornings at 5 am to catch the fish market that starts from 6 am and lasts until 9 am.
I have spent 3 hours there just photographing movement and locals. I was lucky to have there a local person who friended me the first day of arrival. I was the only person who came with her big camera thinking I would be welcomed with open arms. Some people didn't like me photographing, some posed and most of them didn't care, because there are fishes to be bought. I really loved seeing people's faces and their expressions fighting for the catch of the day. I have never seen fish market at the actual beach on the sand. Here are some photos that I personally loved and I captured that morning.
Fishes ready to be bought from locals and their restaurant owners.
It was a lot of serious faces that morning.
There were women buying fishes.
And gossiping too.
Transactions.
Transactions.
And ofcourse, my obsession with palm trees doesn't stop.
Stillness.
Thank you for reading me and seeing my work. I hope I managed to bring a bit of island life to your home.
Love. Lana.
